Lessons Learnt
- Dry Rimu from mums old loom
- Lathe was spinning at 500rpm which felt like a good speed.
- I used 4-5 tools. A mid-sizd bowl gauge, two small gauges, a couple of scrapers and a couple of skews.
- Tools weren't fully sharp as I had never used them before... only use sharp tools
- Used a skew to cut the internal foot for the chuck to lock onto but couldn't get a perfect corner so the chuck didnt sit perfectly flat and the bowl wasn't spinning true when hollowing out
- Sanded down to 1200 grit just using sand paper but couldn't sand out fine radial lines. I quickly discovered why people use sanding disks spinning on drill bits
- Used a Tung oil and mineral mixture
